The tournament week nobody tells you about until it starts
The event most residents still call the Shaw Charity Classic is now the Rogers Charity Classic. Same course, same field size. Seventy-eight players on the PGA TOUR Champions compete over 54 holes for a US$2.5 million purse, with US$375,000 going to the winner. Over thirteen years the tournament has distributed more than $138 million to youth charities in Alberta, which is why the field of activations, hospitality tents, and shuttle buses is larger than the golf itself would suggest.
If you own a home inside Canyon Meadows or the Woodlands, the single most important operational fact is parking. There is no on-site parking at the golf club, and parking is not permitted anywhere in the surrounding Canyon Meadows and Woodlands communities during the tournament. Enforcement is strict. The tournament directs all general spectators to a complimentary shuttle from Anderson LRT Station at 11015 Anderson Station Way SW, one C-Train stop north of Canyon Meadows station. VIP and Premium Pass holders park in Lot C at Southcentre Mall. Accessible parking runs out of St. Mary's University at 14500 Bannister Road SE.

The pathway you cannot use right now
One detail worth flagging for anyone who runs or bikes the park: the Bebo Grove to Marshall Springs pathway has been under partial closure since June 2, 2026, until further notice, per Alberta Parks. If your usual loop ties those two areas together, plan a detour. The rest of the park's 100-plus kilometers of paved and unpaved trails are open, and the Trans Canada Trail still runs through Fish Creek along the Bow River.
A few Fish Creek anchors worth remembering when you have out-of-town guests:
- Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant at the end of Bow Bottom Trail SE for a sit-down dinner inside the restored Ranche House, with a menu built around Alberta regional cuisine.
- Annie's Café for the casual counterpart in the same corner of the park.
- Shannon Terrace and Hull's Wood group day-use areas for picnic shelters and barbecue pits, first-come first-served or reservable through Alberta Parks.
- The ice caves, reached by starting at the Bow Valley Ranche and walking west across the Fish Creek bridge, are dry and small in August but still a fun destination for a short walk with kids.

Hungry Thaiger, the husband-and-wife operation that ran out of the Oakridge community kitchen as a ghost kitchen from 2023 on, opened its brick-and-mortar sit-down restaurant at 3109 Palliser Drive SW earlier this year. It sits a short drive west of the community, and the pattern local reviewers have flagged is worth passing on: the quietest window is early lunchtime on weekends. Weekend evenings have been standing-room only since a CBC radio segment aired.
Canyon Public House, in the same lot as the Canyon Meadows Theatre, is the closest full-service pub to the golf club and stays open late with twenty draught taps and a 150-inch projection screen. It is the natural post-round stop if you are walking home from the shuttle.
